Our mission is to build a strong community of families united together to empower the next generation of American children with the necessary knowledge to succeed in our ever-changing world. We aim to provide our Coop kids with an individualized, hands on enrichment program that places value on sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, life skills and hard work in addition to core academics.
The Coop is excited to add our Longhorn class to the schedule next year! Please see our updated schedules and class definitions below.
On Monday and Wednesday our day begins at 9am and ends at 1:30pm. We have English language arts, math, Agriculture and History. Our cultivators help to guide Coop Kids through well planned lessons that are engaging and enriching. We are looking to add more life skills through our agriculture class and provide that to our incoming Longhorn class.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays our schedule runs from 9am-1:30pm and we offer geography, science and Spanish in addition to English language arts and math. Our geography and science classes allow our Coop Kids to have more hands on projects that allow them to learn in different ways. We are looking to add grammar, writing and typing as an additional option for our families.
This skill level consists of 5-6 year olds. During the year the Otters will learn through fun and hands on projects. They will develop skills recognizing sight words, letter sounds and blends. They will also learn the basics of starting seeds for The Coop garden.
This skill level consists of 5-7 year olds. During the year the Space Dogs will delve into phonics, reading and writing, as well as math, science, agriculture and geography. We have amazing cultivators that will help the children to truly grasp a subject before they move on to the next.
This skill level consists of 7-8 year olds. During this year the Frogs will continue with their phonics education as well as working through reading comprehension, hands on science projects, math and social studies. They will also learn about how to start a garden. Our math will be taught in the traditional way and not common core.
This skill level consists of 7-9 year olds. Our Monkeys get to learn about multiplication and division in math through traditional math education. This skill level will also participate in projects like how to build a garden bed and our annual catapult project.
This skill level consists of 8-10 year olds. The Eagles will dive deeper into the division and multiplication concepts. They will also help to plan the garden beds for The Coop, determining the perimeter and area for each bed. They will also build catapults and determine a budget for which materials to buy.
This skill level consists of 10-11 year olds. The Longhorns will dive deeper into U.S. history, fractions and percentages, adding and subtracting decimals. In language arts they will delve into historical novels, grammar and writing techniques. As well as learning more about the jobs and life skills associated with agriculture.
We believe in combining the best of the homeschool and public school worlds to create a unique experience for all our Coop Kids. Each child is assessed at the beginning of our program to determine where they fall within their skill level. Then the cultivator meets that child where they are academically. We don't just base their education on age we take into account where they are emotionally as well as academically.
We utilize the following curriculum:
